Barbara Mae McEver, our loving wife and mother, age 72 of Commerce, GA passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at her residence.

Born in Commerce, GA on April 15, 1945, Mrs. McEver was the daughter of the late Paul James and Minnie Mae Gee Slater. She retired from Blue Bell, was a member of New Haven Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by brothers, James Slater, Cleo Slater, Willie Slater; sisters, Gennie Martin, Minnie Lou Carroll, Mary Helen Slater, Martha Ellen Slater; and a grandchild, Charlie Franklin McEver.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie R. McEver of the residence; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Max Cantrell, Gainesville, Judy and David Milam, Hendersonville, TN, Beverly and Dave Daniel, Maysville, Lisa McEver, Commerce; brothers and sister-in-law, Johnny and Karen Slater, Commerce, Clifford Slater, Commerce; sisters and brother-in-law, Gertrude McDaniel, Commerce, Dorothy and Robert Kitchens, Hull; grandchildren, James Kelly, Kimberly Kelly, Crystal Whitehead, Stephanie Taylor, Kayla Daniel, Brianna Daniel, Tiffany McEver; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 at New Haven Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Baker, Rev. Charles Elrod and Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 12:30 till time of the service at the church. The family will receive friends 5-8 pm Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at the funeral home.
