Dr. Benjamin Tillman Minish, 83, of Commerce Ga. died Sunday October 19, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was the son of the late Bennett Tillman (BT) Minish and Geraldine Hix Minish. He grew up in Madison County, attended the University of Georgia and completed a degree in Dentistry at Emory University. He practiced dentistry in Commerce for 36 years. After his retirement he operated a cattle and poultry farm in Madison and Jackson county.
Ben was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed staying up to date with new technology and the latest electronic gadgets, going to country music concerts, and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of Erastus Christian Church in Madison County and enjoyed sharing Pastor Steve's "joke of the week" with his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Fitzpatrick, and his parents.
Survivors include one sister, Bendine Minish Parham Hoechst of Athens Ga; three sons, Tracy Minish and wife, Sherry, of Houston, Tx, Kim Minish of Atlanta, and Kelly Minish of Watkinsville; two daughters, Diana Whitlock of Commerce and Deatrice Fountain and husband, James, of Moultrie; eight grand children include, Blake Fitzpatrick, Ashley Fitzpatrick, Tyler Minish, Carson Minish, Chase Minish, Jim Fountain, Anna Fleetwood and Jessica Minish and 10 great-grandchildren and a special family friend, Linda Cape, of Gillsville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday October 23, 11:00 am at Erastus Christian Church with burial following at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-8 pm at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce. Ivie Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to Erastus Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
