Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, announces services for Betty Payne Specht, 77, of Commerce who passed away early Thursday morning in Athens at the home of her daughter. Born in Newton County, she was the daughter of the late Arlow and Pauline Corbin Payne and was the widow of Leonard Specht. She was also preceded in death by two children, Charles Dawley and Billy James Dawley. Survivors include her children, Chris Dawley of Winder, Courtney Dawley of Stockbridge, Carl Johnson of Forsythe, Clifford Johnson of Forsythe, Cody Dawley of Commerce, Barney Dawley, Sr. of Winder, David Dawley of Athens, Jeanette Garner of Winder, Clara Greene of Athens; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 1 PM from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Duncan officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:30 until the time of service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive freinds at the funeral home on Thursday evening and Friday evening from 6-9 PM.
