Edward Thomas Duncan

Ivie Funeral Home announces services for Edward Thomas Duncan, 68, of Commerce who died on Monday at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Alvin Vaughn and Edna Duncan Brown but was raised in the home of his grandparents, the late Carter Thomas and Odessa Brown Duncan. Mr. Duncan was also preceded in death by a brother, William Lord.. He was married to Brenda Chandler Duncan of the residence. Survivors, along with his wife, include a daughter, Jennifer Duncan Embrick of Gainesville; a sister, Patricia Vaughn Duggar of Appalachicola, FL; brothers, Jimmy Lord of Toccoa, Dwight Vaughn of Winterville and Hoyt Vaughn of Appalachicola, FL; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 4 PM from the Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. David Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canaan Baptist Church building fund.
