Felix John Lushko, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at his home in Colbert, Georgia. He was born on August 18, 1922, in Norwich, Connecticut, to Konstantin and Olga Lushko.
Felix grew up in Brooklyn, New York, until 1932, when his family moved to West Point Avenue, in Somerset, New Jersey. He entered the service in 1942 and retired as a First Sergeant E-8, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He received an army commendation medal for meritorious service, among other certificates of achievement. Having served as a medic, he appreciated life, describing his first experience with war being the landing on Normandy Beach in France.
While in the service, Felix met Trudy Zimmer around 1947 in Germany. The couple married January 4, 1954, at Saint Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Ottawa, Canada and were happily married for 36 years. Felix was preceded in death by his beloved spouse Trudy; parents Konstantin and Olga Lushko; his siblings Joan Victoria Lapczynski, John Lushko, and Madeline (Midge) Sawicki. Felix is survived by his older sister Malvina (May) Kupper of Dunnelen, New Jersey; younger sister Harriet (Honey) Granski of Raritan, New Jersey; and younger brother Constantine (Connie) Luska, of Martinsville, New Jersey; and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
