Ivie Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Horace Grady Chandler, age 90, who passed away at his residence on June 26, 2014. Mr. Chandler was the son of the late William Thomas Chandler and the late Sallie Graham Chandler. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Willie Jo Chandler Lord, Georgia Chandler Sorrow, Frances Chandler James and one brother Ralph Chandler. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Virginia Collins Chandler. Mr. Chandler worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Montesano, Washington and then retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, a member of the American Legion #215 and a member of the Phi Delta Masonic Lodge #148. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Thompson Chandler, of the home, a stepson and his wife George and Janelle Thompson of Stockbridge and a stepdaughter and her husband, Elaine and Stan Jones of Homer. Two step granddaughters, one step great granddaughter, three step great grandsons and several special nieces and nephews also survive. Services for Mr. Horace Grady Chandler will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 2PM from the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Ward and the Rev. Bill Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in the Danielsville City Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers to make memorials to NEGA Hospice or a church of your choice.
