Throughout her life, Ira embraced her role as a wife, mother, and Mamaw, a title that spoke volumes about her nurturing spirit. She was known for her dedication to others, having spent many years as a caregiver, providing warmth and support to those in need. Her kind heart and boundless energy left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
Ira is survived by her loving father, Curtis Porter, and her devoted spouse, Anthony Jackson. She is also the proud mother of her daughter, Tabitha (Hunter) Hughes, who carries forward the values her mother instilled in her. Ira's legacy will continue through her grandchildren, Tristen, Kiera, and Connor Hughes, who brought her immense joy in her later years. She is further survived by her sisters, Kathy Smith and Laura Ratterree, whose bond with her remains strong and enduring.
Ira is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Joycelyn Pugh Porter, and her brother, Curtis Porter, Jr. Their memories live on in the hearts of those they left behind.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ira’s life at Ivie Funeral Home located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, Georgia. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Banks County Memorial Gardens.
