James David Shelnutt

James David Shelnutt, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on November 2, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on February 17, 1941, in Athens, Georgia, James lived a life marked by dedication and love for his family and work as a truck driver.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Kay Moon Shelnutt, and his sons, David (Melissa) Shelnutt, Danny (Vickie) Shelnutt; and daughter, Angie (Henry) Kellerson. James took great pride in his role as a father and was especially devoted to his six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, to whom he was a source of strength and affection.

James also leaves behind his sisters, Rita Cowart and Dorothy Ragsdale, who will carry forward his memory in their hearts. He is predeceased by his parents, Wille Frank and Willie Mildred Sorrow Shelnutt, and his siblings: Larry Shelnutt, Joseph Shelnutt, Ricky Shelnutt, Frances Shelnutt, and Margaret Hanley.

The family invites all who knew and loved James to join them for visitation at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, Georgia, on November 5, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on November 6, 2024, beginning at 11:30 AM in the chapel. Burial will follow in Danielsville Memorial Gardens.

James David Shelnutt will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love and hard work will endure through the lives he touched and inspired.
