Joel Timothy Watkins

Joel Watkins, age 52, passed away on Monday March 25, 2013 at his residence after a brief fight with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Watkins was born July 13, 1960, the son of Inez Watkins of Homer and the late Roy Watkins. Joel was preceded in death by his father, Roy Watkins and sister Janice Watkins. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Cheryl Watkins; daughters, Renee Streetman of Commerce, Jennifer Sansevirino and son in law, Brian of Gillsville, Brittany McGlohon and son in law, Chad of Athens. Grandchildren Adam and Ava Streetman, Collin, Alysia and Lydia Sansevirino, and Ella McGlohon; sister Carol Hulsey and brothers David and Keith Watkins. Funeral services are Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1 PM from the Diamond Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Poole officiating. Burial in Diamond Hill Church Cemetery. Ivie Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
