John Daniel Godwin

John Daniel Godwin, born on August 30, 1959, in Lockport, New York, passed away on December 14, 2024, in Maysville, Georgia. He lived a life marked by service and dedication, having proudly retired from the Navy after a distinguished military career.

John cherished his family deeply and is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Renae Stone Godwin. He was a proud father to his daughter, Amber (Jody) Smith, and his three sons, Gary Godwin, Adam Godwin, and Travis (Brittany) Godwin. The joy of his life extended to his 11 grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness throughout the years.

His memory lives on through his beloved sister, Debbie Mullen. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Cecil and Willie Foy Smith Hart Godwin, whose lives and legacies shaped him into the man he became.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, Georgia, for a visitation on December 18, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location. Also, a graveside service will be held 2 pm Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024 at Woodlawn Memory Gardens, US-231, Ozark, AL 36340.
