John Franklin "Punk" Mathis

Mr. John Franklin "Punk" Mathis age 71 of Danielsville passed away Wednesday July 29, 2015 at the Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Mathis was born August 30, 1943 in Commerce to the late Lee & Zelma McElroy Mathis. He was retired from Aldridge Construction and was a member of Galilee Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Elizabeth Alexander Mathis.
Survivors include, daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Marie and Ronny Pierce of Statham, Angela Denise and Terry Shelton of Danielsville, Tammy Lynn and Todd Wood of Danielsville, Lisa Michelle and Tadpole Farmer of Danielsville; Son & Daughter in law, Scottie Ray and Amy Mathis of Homer; sister, Mabel Manus of Commerce; seventeen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday July 31st, 2015 from 6 pm until 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 1st, 2015 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Dyer and Rev. Douglas Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Howington Cemetery.
