Larry Douglas Harrison, a beloved member of his community, passed away on November 24, 2024 at the age of 79. Born on March 29, 1945, in Gainesville, Georgia, Larry devoted his life to his family, career, and service to his country.
After completing his education with an Associates Degree, Larry further distinguished himself as a dedicated Maintenance Supervisor with Deere and Company, where he was known for his hard work and commitment to excellence. His career was marked by a strong sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to contribute to the well-being of those around him.
A proud Army Veteran, Larry served in the Vietnam War as part during the Tet Offensive 1st Calvary Division, 7th Battalion, 13th Artillery, 1st Field Forces, and 173rd Airborne Brigade. His service to his country shaped his character and instilled in him values that he upheld throughout his life, including integrity, respect, and loyalty.
Larry was deeply loved and cherished by his family. He is survived by his devoted spouse of 60 years, Janice Tullis Harrison; and his adoring daughter, Julie Harrison Phillips (Jimmy) of Danielsville; granddaughter, Kristi Janet Phillips Fortson (Mack) of Danielsville; great-grandchildren, Lorann and Baker Fortson of Danielsville; sisters, Martha Morgan (Edward) of Flowery Branch, Ruth Jones (Terry) of Hoschton; nephews, Eddie Morgan, Larry Morgan, Robbie Morgan, and Dr. Michael Todd Jones. He also leaves behind the fond memories of his late parents, JC and Runelle Titshaw Harrison, who have preceded him in death and also a nephew, Alan Jones.
As a man of great strength and kindness, Larry's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His unwavering devotion to family and country, coupled with his dedication to his work, establishes him as a revered figure in the lives of his loved ones. Larry will be remembered not only for his contributions but also for the love he shared with his family and community.
Larry was such a special daddy and papa. He cherished every minute he had with his daughter and grandchildren. His heart overflowed with love for them.
