Larry Roger Williams, a devoted husband, father, and member of the community, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, in Athens, GA, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 9, 1949, in Maysville, GA, Larry grew up with a strong sense of family and community that shaped his life.
He dedicated much of his working life to McEver's, where he served as a warehouse worker, demonstrating an unwavering work ethic and commitment to his responsibilities. Larry's journey in education began with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from The University of Georgia, reflecting his passion for knowledge and teaching. His dedication to learning and personal growth was a hallmark of his character.
Larry was a cherished member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to the life of the congregation. His faith was a guiding light for him and those around him.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Williams, and two sons, Tyson Williams and Eric Bailey, who carry forward his legacy of love and dedication. His family will remember him not only for his steadfast support but also for the warmth and joy he brought into their lives.
Larry is preceded in death by his beloved sister, Gail Wilson, and his parents, Thurston C. Williams Jr. and Ruth Holden Williams. Their memories will live on in the stories and love shared by his family.
Mr. Williams will be laid to rest at Jackson Memorial Garden in a private family burial.
Mr. Williams will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and commitment will continue to inspire all who knew him.
