Louise Thompson Shiflet, age 86 of Commerce, GA passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023.
Born on May 14, 1936, Mrs. Shiflet was the daughter of the late Milton and May Bell Chandler Thompson. She was retired from Rockdale County having worked in the tag office for many years, she was a member of Conyers First United Methodist Church, and was proceeded in death by her husband; William W. Shiflet Sr., brothers; Nelton Thompson and Wayne Thompson, along with sisters; Katherine Cole, Virginia Thornton, Karon Holloway and Jean Rivers and daughter in-law; Rhonda Shelton Shiflet and mother in law Verona Shiflet Floyd.
Louise was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend She loved her family, friends and the Lord. She grew up in Fayetteville, Georgia. She married her husband, William W. Shiflet, Sr. in 1958. They moved to Conyers to raise their children. Louise lost her husband in 1978 and became a single mother to two young children. Louise's faith in her Lord and the love and support from her family got her through this difficult time. Louise was determined to be the best mother to her children. Louise was affectionately known as "Hattie Louise" and "Ease" by her family. She was an excellent cook and had many request for her strawberry cake, chocolate pound cake and macaroni and cheese. She enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves and was an avid Georgia Bulldawgs fan. The highlight of her later years was with her great nieces Ava and Emma Ciconte, Kayla Hensley and great nephews Will and Hunter Hensley.
Survivors include her son Bill Shiflet (Holly), daughter; Susan (Stanley) Camp, brother; Jim (Susan) Thompson, sisters; Henrietta Leavell, and Deb Ciconte, sister in-law; Amelia Thompson, brother in-law; Marvin Shiflet along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Conyers First United Methodist Church 921 North Main St. NW Conyers GA. 30012. Rev. Chris Shurtz officiating. Burial will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens 699 American Legion Road NE Conyers Georgia 30012. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at Conyers First United Methodist Tuesday March 7, 2023.
