L.T. Turpin, born on May 25, 1951, in Commerce, Georgia, peacefully departed this world on September 29, 2024, at his residence. He was a dedicated family man and a hardworking individual whose contributions to both his profession and his loved ones will always be remembered.
L.T. graduated from Banks County High School in 1969. Following his education, he built a commendable career as a mechanic specializing in the maintenance of commercial sewing machines for the textile industry. His commitment to his work was evident in his diligent nature and unwavering dedication, earning him a reputation as a very hard worker within the field.
Throughout his life, L.T. nurtured warm and loving relationships with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Sims Turpin; his son, Keith Turpin; and his sisters, Reba Turpin and Marie Maddox. L.T. also took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Samantha, Naylor, Krystal Naylor Slack, and Charles Husk, as well as a great-grandfather to Sheyenne, Dakota LT, and Dominic Wade.
He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Turpin; his mother, Woodie Fuller Turpin; his daughter, Sonya Marie Turpin; his great-granddaughter, Ann Louise; and his brothers, David, Thurston, Virgil, and Andrew Turpin. The legacy he leaves behind will be cherished by all who knew him.
A visitation honoring L.T. Turpin will be held on September 30, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, Georgia, 30529. A funeral service will be conducted the following day, October 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home.
L.T.'s spirit will endure through the memories and love of his family and friends, and his impact on their lives will never fade. He will be deeply missed.
