Michael Harris, born on January 9, 1954, in Germany to the late George and Elizabeth Harris, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, in Commerce, Georgia. His journey through life was marked by dedication, passion, and love, leaving a profound impact on all who knew him.
A proud maintenance professional, Michael devoted many years of his career to the Postal Service in Atlanta, GA. His colleagues admired his work ethic and commitment, often remarking on his attention to detail and unwavering reliability. His role not only supported his family but also contributed to the seamless functioning of a vital community service.
Michael's love for life extended beyond his career. He was an avid runner, with a particular passion for marathon running, embracing the exhilaration of each race he participated in. His spirit during marathons was reflective of his character—resilient and unyielding. Alongside running, he was a devoted sports fan, cheering passionately for the Georgia Bulldogs, Boston Celtics, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Whether it was the excitement of a game or the thrill of race day, Michael's enthusiasm was contagious to those around him.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Susan Ivey Harris, whose companionship brought joy and support throughout their life together. He is also survived by his step-sons, Marty (Ashley) Boatright and Rusty (Rebecca) Boatright, brother, George Harris, brother-in-law, Burt (Marilyn) Ivey, and sisters, Marian (Richard) Wyckoff, Barbara (Brit) Broussard, and Monica Norton. A treasured legacy of love continues through his eight grandchildren, who will forever cherish their memories with their beloved grandfather, seven nieces and nephews, and six great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Harris and a nephew, Jeramie Wyckoff.
