Pamela Joyce Veal, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on October 1, 2024, at Piedmont Hospital in Athens, Georgia, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 16, 1961, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Pam dedicated her life to the service others, retiring from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, where she served dutifully as a clerk. Her commitment to public service exemplified her kind and humble spirit, traits that endeared her to many throughout her life.
Pam's greatest joy came from her family, whom she loved with all her heart. She is survived by her two daughters, Amy Chambers (Jamie) and Nicole Morice (Moe), who carry forth her legacy of love and compassion. Pam was also cherished by her grandchildren: Andrew Chambers, Madison Chambers, Avery Dale, Thomas Dale, and Isabellia Smith. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and they will forever remember her gentle guidance and encouragement.
A devoted sister, Pam is remembered fondly by her siblings Carol Tullis and Annette Maynard (Ken) and Willard (Carol) Tunnell Jr. who recall countless memories filled with laughter and support. She faced life's challenges with grace, having lost her beloved parents, Willard Coy Tunnell Sr. and Clara Louise Parks Tunnell, as well as her sister Teresa Franklin, yet she remained a pillar of strength for her family.
Pam’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found solace and community within the walls of Leatherwood Baptist Church, where she enjoyed worshipping with friends and fellow parishioners. The love she cultivated there reflected her nurturing nature, and many were touched by her devotion and warmth.
Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. A visitation for Pamela will be held on October 3, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, Georgia. The funeral service will follow on October 4, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM, also at Ivie Funeral Home. Rev. Alex Maynard and Rev. Adam Humphries officiating. Pamela will be laid to rest during a brief interment at Leatherwood Baptist Church that same day.
As we celebrate Pamela's life, we remember her as a wonderful Christian lady whose love, kindness, and humility will remain an enduring legacy for all who had the privilege of knowing her. She may have departed from this world, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, a testament to a life well lived.
