Mr. Philip "Phil" Austin Bradley, age 86, of Carnesville, passed away of natural causes on August 20, 2015. Mr. Bradley was born on February 5, 1929 in Paducah, Ky. to the late Austin Dallas Bradley and the late Lorah Rachel Bradley. He graduated from Greenfield High School, Greenfield, Tn., received his Bachelors of Science and Masters degrees from George Peabody-Vanderbilt University and his Doctorate of Education from the University of Georgia. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Phil retired from DeKalb County Board of Education in Georgia working in various capacities including Associate Superintendent and Elementary School Principal for several schools. After retirement, he was a professor at Clark Atlanta University. Mr. Bradley is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Hornbeak Bradley of Carnesville, Ga., daughter, Elaine Tillier, St. Louis, Mo., son, Philip Bradley, II, of Braselton, Ga. and grandsons, Captain Daniel Tillier (USAF) and Thomas Austin Bradley. Also surviving is a brother, Jim Malone, Humboldt, Tn. and was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Enos. Private graveside services will be held at Hornbeak Cemetery, Greenfield, Tn. at a later date.
