Ivie Funeral Home, Madison County Chapel in Danielsville, announces services for Rachel Pauline "Polly" Porterfield, 81, of Colbert who went to be with the Lord late Tuesday night at her residence. Born in Coweta County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Leona Moore Hudson and was the widow of Roscoe Doyle Porterfield. She was also preceded in death by a son, James "Red" Flanagan. Survivors include her children, Carolyn (Oneal) Smith of Danielsville, Dennis (Lynn) Flanagan of Watkinsville, Gary (Judy) Flanagan of Hull, Wayne (Nancy) Flanagan of Danielsville, Donnie (Mary) Flanagan of Colbert, Keith Porterfield of Danielsville and Timothy Porterfield, also of Danielsville; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren; siblings, Charles Hudson of Comer, Eunice Malcolm of Athens, Myrtle O'Shields of Flowery Branch and Opal Barnett of Jefferson. She lived her last years with her son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Mary Flanagan and was very close to them. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 2 PM from the Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Garrett and Rev. Robert Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow in the Danielsville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7-9 PM and at the other times at the home of Donnie and Mary Flanagan, located at 5896 Colbert-Danielsville Rd. in Colbert. Mrs. Porterfield will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
