Robert "Leroy" Hardy, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully his hometown of Commerce, Georgia, on November 4, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on December 19, 1934, in, he spent his life dedicated to both his family and his craft as a self-employed carpenter, embodying the characteristics of hard work and dedication that he instilled in his loved ones.
Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Caroline Lord Hardy, and his two daughters, Sandra Allen and Lynn Hardy, and a grandson, Dillon Hamby. He was also the last of 13 siblings, having been preceded by all his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Joy (Robert) Burt, and his sons, Mike (Carol) Hardy and Marlon (Pam) Hardy. Leroy found great joy in his family, who will carry forward his legacy, including his nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on November 5, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home, located at 1053 S. Elm Street, Commerce, GA 30529. Friends and family are invited to gather to remember and honor Leroy's life. The funeral service will take place the following day, November 6, 2024, at 3:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church, situated at 211 Stapler Dr., Nicholson, GA 30565. The body will lie in state 2:30 pm until the funeral hour at the church. Following the service, Leroy will be laid to rest, concluding a remarkable journey filled with love and craftsmanship at Howington Cemetery.
Leroy Hardy will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who remember him not only for his skills as a carpenter but, more importantly, for his unwavering love and support throughout their lives. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
