Roger Dale Patrick, a beloved member of the Atlanta Dragstrip community, passed away on June 21, 2024, at his residence on Fort Lamar Rd. in Commerce, Georgia. He was known for his dedicated years of service at the Atlanta Dragstrip for the NHRA, where he touched the lives of many with his passion for racing.
Born on July 16, 1954, in Commerce, Georgia, Roger had a deep love for cars and all forms of racing. His enthusiasm for the sport extended beyond the track as he cherished the camaraderie of his co-workers at the race track, forming strong bonds that lasted a lifetime.
Roger will be fondly remembered by his surviving family and friends: Douglas Patrick - son, David (Carol) Patrick - brother, Ricky Cain - nephew and loving caretaker, and Bentlee Cain - nephew who stole his heart. Their memories will forever hold Roger close in their hearts as they recall his kind spirit and love for family.
Roger leaves behind a legacy and will join others who proceeded him in death: John W. Patrick - father, Willie Mae Payne Patrick - mother, Roy Patrick, Alford Patrick, Wayman Patrick, Robert Patrick, Billy Patrick, Edward Patrick - brothers, Annie Rae Cartledge, Johnny Sue Hill, and Wilma Cochran - sisters.
The visitation to honor Roger's life will take place on Monday, June 24th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ivie Funeral Home located at 1053 S. Elm Street in Commerce. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, June 25th at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Chad Rising of Blacks Creek Baptist Church at Ivie Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will then take place at Gray Hill Cemetery.
Roger Dale Patrick's presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His love for racing and genuine kindness towards others have left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. May he rest in peace knowing he was truly admired and adored by many.
