Thomas "Joel" McDaniel, born on January 5, 1946, in Winder, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, in Toccoa, Georgia. He was a lifelong resident of the area, known affectionately by family and friends for his steadfast dedication to his work as a self-employed farmer.

Joel's life was one rooted deeply in his love for the land and his commitment to providing for his family through hard work and determination. His contributions to the local community through his farming endeavors will be remembered by many.

He is survived by his son, Anthony Joel McDaniel, and a loving family that includes his brothers, Jody Lee Fowler and Danny Fowler, his sisters, Beth Fowler, Shannon Clark, Alice Christine Hanley, and Tammy Fowler. Joel also cherished his role as a grandfather to four grandchildren and as a great-grandfather to one great-grandchild, who brought him immense joy.

In addition to his immediate family, Joel was preceded in death by his father, Joe Fowler, and his mother, Roxie Ethel Dean. He was also joined in death by his brothers, Robert Paul McDaniel, Royce McDaniel, Harry Greenmyer, James Fredric Greenmyer, George Alexander Greenmyer, and Larry Joe Fowler, who have all left an indelible mark on his life.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Ivie Funeral Home in Commerce, Georgia, on February 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Joel's legacy, characterized by his love for family, work ethic, and connection to the community, will surely live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
