George Edward Wyatt

January 18, 1924 — March 19, 2016

George Edward Wyatt, Sr., age 92 of Homer, passed away at his son's home in Homer.
Mr. Wyatt was born in Battery Park, VA January18, 1924 to the late Guy Smith & Marion Minga Wyatt. He was a World War II Naval Veteran, having served on ship number DD-428 Charles F. Hughes. George was a member of the Smithfield Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason in the Smithfield Masonic Lodge and was a Mason for over 50 years. He retired from NASA and worked there before and after World War II when it was NACA and worked with the first 14 astronauts. He was a longtime resident of Phoebus, VA, and Rescue, VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris C. Wyatt.
He is survived by his sons, George Edward( Buddy) Wyatt, Jr. and his wife, Judy Raulerson; James Guy Wyatt and his wife, Janet N. Wyatt, his grandchildren, Lori Wyatt de la REza, Nicole (Nikki)Wyatt Williams, Guy Cofer Wyatt, and Melissa Wyatt Bowen. He is also survived by 5 Great Grandchildren.
Special thanks to caretakers Nicole Robinson, CNA, Diana Ronci, RN, and the hospice healthcare workers.
Visitation and funeral services will be handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Carrollton, VA.
