Viola Gillespie

August 14, 1941 — April 12, 2014

Viola Gillespie passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at North Ridge Medical Center in Commerce. She was the daughter of the late Ed and Elizabeth Ramsey. She worked at BJC Hospital in the Dietary Department for 25 years. A faithful member of Homer First Baptist Church until sickness fell upon her. She leaves one daughter and son in law, Angela (Cedric) Cheeks of Maysville; two grandchildren, Iyanna and Destiny; three sisters, Ruby Spidell of Gainesville, Christine (Dennis) Mitchell of Athens, and Tina (Robert) David of Toccoa; brother O.B. Ramsey of Gainesville; special nieces, Teresa (Greg) Wiley of Nicholson, Marilyn Gobern of Riverdale and Victoria Martin of Athens; God Daughter YaKeyea Dorsey; and uncles, Johnny Ramsey and Leonard Jackson both of Commerce. Mrs. Gillespie was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 5 brothers. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 18th, 2014 at 2 PM from the Homer First Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Wilson officiating, the body will lie in state from 1 PM until the time of the service. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Thursday, April 17th, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM.
